More than 50 graduate students in the Program in Art, the Program in Photography & Media, and the Center for Integrated Media at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) invite visitors into their studios and offer a look into the artistic concerns and methodologies of the next generation coming out of CalArts.
These independent-minded, highly motivated students represent the next wave of artists, pushing into new territories in a multitude of artistic mediums - painting and drawing, installation, video, photography, sculpture, performance, sound, multimedia and interactivity.
The Open Studios event is a chance to get an insider's view of the artistic innovation and critical reflection that lies at the heart of the work being created at CalArts. This is the one day a year when the public can get a peek at where and how these artists work, see works-in-progress, ask questions, interact with the artists and gain an understanding of what goes into the creative process.
Free snacks and cold beverages will be available.
